The notes from 500 to 20,000 «strong» bolívares, dated 18 August 2016, were five to two hundred times the former highest denomination. They received no new design: the large notes repeated the figures and animals of the 2007 series.
The 5,000 bolívares repeats the design of the 20: Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi on the front and a hawksbill sea turtle against the Macanao mountains on the back.
The «strong» bolívar lasted ten years: on 20 August 2018 it was replaced by the «sovereign» bolívar at 100,000 to 1.
A female portrait and a sea turtle on a high denomination make this a piece for women-on-money and marine-life sets, and paired with the 2007 twenty it tells the story of inflation. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
Collectors who focus on a single country will find its other banknote issues in the VPcoins catalogue as well.
